Welcome to God’s Career Guide.
I received Jesus Christ in 1985 and have been studying, teaching, and writing about the Bible ever since.
All of us know how our work dominates our lives. We spend more of our waking hours in work-related activities than anything else. In 2008 and with this fact in mind, I decided to focus my Bible study efforts on the topic of Christianity in the workplace. Subsequently, I moved my teaching ministry from the church classroom to the Web. Godscareerguide.com went online in 2009.
My first book, God’s Career Guide: Practical Insights for the Workplace Christian, was published in 2013.
In my professional life, I have earned two college degrees and spent decades working at all levels in the recruiting and staffing industry. I am an active business owner, self-employed recruiter, and former corporate executive. I am a working Christian whose professional life focuses on jobs, the workplace, and the career success of others. My business profile is posted on LinkedIn.
My favorite Old Testament verse is Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding,” and in the New Testament, 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
My wife, Nalani, and I met in Hawaii while we were both attending high school there. We have three married children and six grandchildren. We live in Sugar Land, Texas, a suburb of Houston.
What do I believe?
I believe Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega of all things. Salvation in Christ changes every aspect of life for the better—today, tomorrow, and for eternity.
I believe the Bible is God-breathed and every word of it is true. Isaiah 40:8 declares, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” (NKJV)
I believe the church, both local and universal, is the community of believers; and I am thankful for the church’s pastors, teachers, and other ministers.
I believe human work is a high calling from God. At its core, our work is a service to God to be performed to his glory.
I believe Christians should be the best workers in their respective organizations.
I believe the workplace is an ideal environment for manifesting our salvation. It is a mistake to invest decades in a career without having Jesus Christ at its center.
I believe the workplace is the ripest of mission fields. We are Christ’s ambassadors to the workplace, and his salt and light to our co-workers.
